FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS

The Flight of the Conchords, “formerly New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo,” will be playing at Amoeba Music. The show coincides with the release of their full-length album — an homage to the Pet Shop Boys, censorship, Marvin Gaye and backhanded compliments.

QAWWALI MUSIC OF PAKISTAN

Qawwali, the ecstatic devotional music of the Sufis, uses Sufi poetic texts, strong, rapturous voices and hand-clapping rhythms to express the elation of divine love. Revered as two of India’s finest Qawwali musicians, brothers Mehr and Sher Ali will perform at Royce Hall. Their performances are part of a continual effort to create a direct channel to divine union through singing and tabla playing.
