JANET KLEIN & HER PARLOR BOYS

February 3, 2008

Join Janet Klein & Her Parlor Boys for a night of obscure, naughty, and lovely songs from 1915 thru 1937 at Maxwell DeMille’s Cicada Club. To guarantee seating for the show make a dinner reservation to dine at the Cicada Restaurant.

Klein, a popular Hollywood chanteuse, performs with uncommon authenticity. She conjures up the image of a gut-bucking vamp like no one does. Such selections as “What A Night For Spooning,” “Good Little Bad Little You” or the “Sheik of Avenue B” say it all. She’s like a svelte dream in a vintage Vitaphone short, pitching woo as she transports one to a time when novelty and a bit of sentimental swing were the thing.

The Cicada Club, which is housed in downtown’s Oviatt Building, is considered an Art Deco masterpiece.
