Take in the passionate sounds of “America’s first all female mariachi ensemble,” Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, at MacArthur Park’s free outdoor concert series. Over the last fifty years numerous mariachi chick bands have claimed to be the first ever. Regardless of Mariachi Reyna’s ranking in female mariachi history, their energized and original pieces, played on the violin, trumpet, vihuela, guitar, guitarrón and acoustic harp, offer a fresh take on this traditional art form.
