As the longest serving broadcaster in Iraq, Richard Engel went on marine patrols, survived ambushes and saw the grim details omitted from nightly newscasts. In conversation with NPR’s Mike Shuster, Engel will discuss his new memoir “War Journal, My Five Years in Iraq,” which includes his interviews with Sunni insurgents, Shiite militias, US military officials and President Bush.
